If you’re driving down a country road, stuck in a slow moving queue and you can see a caravan up ahead......

.....there’s almost certainly a tractor or horse box in front holding up the cool guy with the caravan!

Caravanning is the only way to have a holiday!

Our first caravan - A 1973 Swift DanetteWe bought our first caravan in 1994. It was a 1973 Swift Danette, and it was a superb ‘van. In addition to a fridge, it also had an underfloor cool box which was extremely useful for storing food in while travelling. Surprisingly, Swift scrapped the cool box from its design the following year.

Like all Swifts, it had deep windows and superb through vision when towing. The interior fittings were excellent, including a "Welsh Dresser" with plenty of drawer space.

Unfortunately, the Swift was already over 20 years old when we bought it, and it was past its best. We added a few scratches and dents of our own while we had it, and by 1998 it was time to reluctantly say goodbye. We gave it a fine send off for its final trip by repainting it, and then in the autumn we took it to a caravan breakers in Pontypool, having first stripped the interior of absolutely everything removable.

Our second caravan - A 1983 Ace HarmonyOur second caravan is a 1983 Ace Harmony. It’s shorter, lighter and warmer with its plastic double-glazed windows, but somehow lacks the personality of the old Swift.

You can read about some of our caravanning expoits in the stories shown below, some of which have previously appeared in caravan magazines:

Site Finding

The four web sites shown below are useful in finding a caravan site, but none of them match the enormous database which we have compiled, containing a couple of thousand caravan sites, but which is sadly not on computer.

If you are desperate to find a site in a particular area, and none of these four web sites can help you, e-mail us, and we may be able to find something.
